My Role As A Media Personality In Achieving National Cohesion Through Positive Reporting _ Read What I Learnt From The FCMB Media Parley In Port Harcourt

27th-Marh-2019, I have began my new face as a media practitioner from Rivers state after listening to Mr Idoreyen Anang during the South-East, South-South FCMB Media Parley with top media personalities in this region.

A presentation from Mr. Idoreyen Anang started with a question that torched me, If Building a legacy is important to me and what I think about my career. This Kept me thinking for a while, wondering how the cooperate world would accept my brand and personality considering that fact that I am on the peak of my career as a media practitioner.

Yes! Legacy building is as important as me building my brand, it is not about what I do today, it is about what people would say I did yesterday.

As Media Practitioners, it's our souls responsibility to change the narrative, from what the western world wants to see, to what we want them to see. We decide who know what, and how stories should be told across nations.

This simply means that, if we can't sell Nigeria positively as the media, then we ate in no way contributing to the growth and peace building in our nation.

I remember Mr. Anang mentioned that the Buko Haram is Popular today because the media gives them massive publicity. If we can stop reporting more of the negativity and focus on the positive, we can change the narrative for the better.

Don't forget that The Fulani and Christian killings staterd with Cane and Able. Cane was a herdsman and able the Christian farmer, Mr. Anang emphasized.

The media Parley which was a fusion of the new and traditional media had in attendance major stakeholders in the media world as well as executives of First City Monument Bank (FCMB)

During the event, Mr. Diran Olojo (Group head, Corporate Affairs, FCMB) disclosed that the South-South & South-East zone is the strong base of the financial institution.

Tagged “Achieving National Cohesion and Security Through Positive Reporting: The Role of the Media” the mantle was later handed over to Mr. Idorenyen Enyang (CEO Coperate Shepherds Limited) who gave a juicy presentation with great deal of enlightenment he also pointed out NYSC as a symbol of National which has been maximally utilized. On that note he called for its rebranding.

Furthermore, they called on all Nigerians to be patriotic and live above ethnicity amongst other differences in the country.

Below are some pictures from the event
